How to pack a china cabinet

One of our delicate items that need to be properly packed when moving is a china cabinet. People usually give more attention for packing the glass shelves and doors and do not give enough attention of protecting the cabinet itself. Although the cabinet itself is made mostly out of wood it’s still need to be pack properly to prevent damage to the wood and from causing it to break.

Disassembling china cabinet

The first step of packing a china cabinet is to disassemble the glass shelves out of it.

The easiest way to disassemble the glass shelves is to lower the shelves all the way down then lift them up and angle them out.

Most important is to inspect the glass and make sure none of the seams are loose.

Also make sure nothing else is attached to the glass shelve itself.

Disassemble chine cabinet doors

If your cabinet have a glass doors or any other delicate doors, it will be wise to disassemble them and pack them separately.

In order to disassemble the cabinet doors, remove the screws that attach the hinge, making sure you keep these parts in a plastic bag that can be attached to the inside or bottom of the cabinet.

 Take your glass shelves and wrap them with bubble wrap (use the one with the big bubbles)

Place your packed shelves on top of each other and pack them with one large moving blanket, next thing take a large mirror box and place your glass shelve inside the box.

How to pack a cabinet

In order to make sure your cabinet will arrived safely to its destination, pack it with moving blankets, this will make sure the wood won’t get scratch and that the cabinet nails that holds the cabinet together will hold.

If you have any remaining glass inside the cabinet take it out and pack it properly, if you can’t take those glass out, make sure the glass is secure to the cabinet and pack it with bubble wrap.
