How to pack a glass top table

A glass top table is an expensive item that can’t be fixed if broken. However, the bright side is that it is easy to pack.

In order To pack your glass top table you will need to acquire the following packing materials:

  • Large picture box or mirror box.
  • Moving blankets
  • Bubble wrap.
  • Moving tape.

Disassemble a glass top table

In order to pack your glass table and move it safely you first need to disassemble it.

There are two common types of glass top table. The first one is when the glass-top is just laying on the table and all you need to do is just lift the glass up.

The second type is when the glass-top is screwed to the table base or legs and needs to be disassembled, here is how:

Place some moving pads or moving blankets on your floor and place your glass top table on the blankets, glass down legs up.

Locate where the legs are attached to the glass base and unscrew them.

One you finish disassembling the legs take the screws and tape them together to a small package, then take all the table legs and place them together (two legs upon two legs)

Put your screws pack near it and pack it all with a moving blanket.

Packing a glass top table

Take a long sheet of bubble wrap (use the wrap with the big bubbles for quality protection), and wrap the glass from both sides, you can even do double layers for better protection.

Take 4 pieces of 1 feet bubble wrap and place each sheet on the four edges of the glass.

For the next step, take one moving blanket and wrap one side of the glass, then take another moving blanket and wrap the other side of the glass.

Packing a glass top table inside a box

Take a large mirror or a large picture box and cut it. After that place it wide open on the floor.

Take your glass top package and place it on one of the box sides with a 4 inch gap between the glass and the edge of the box, make sure the glass package is placed in the center of the cardboard so you have three edges from the three sides. Now, fold the 4 inch gap into the inner side of the glass and tape it to the moving blanket. After folding the cardboard you will have two edges on the sides, you cut just cut them of, you don’t need them. Do the same thing with the rest of edges. Place some more bubble wrap on the moving blankets so that the cardboard doesn’t cover it. Then, take the other side of the picture box and fold it over.

Tape everything together nice and strong and you are ready to ship your glass top table safely.
