Specifying the Source Location of the Microsoft Patch Data File

Patch Impact Manager is included with FLEXnet AdminStudio Enterprise Edition.

The Microsoft Patch Data File, mssecure.xml, is a centralized repository which contains information about the currently published patches for all Microsoft products and operating systems. The latest version of mssecure.xml is shipped with Patch Impact Manager, and is installed in the AdminStudio Shared location. When Microsoft periodically updates this file, you need to download the updated version. On the Options Dialog Box, you can specify the source location of mssecure.xml.

Task

To specify the source location of mssecure.xml:

Open the Patch Impact Manager interface.

Select Options from the Tools menu. The Options Dialog Box opens.

Enter the desired source location in the Microsoft Patch Data File (mssecure.xml) URL field. By default the Microsoft Patch Data File (mssecure.xml) URL field is set to the InstallShield download site, which will always contain the most recently published version of this file:

http://www.installshield.com/downloads/isas/mssecure.asp

Click OK.

Caution

While you are permitted to enter any URL address in this field, it is recommended that you set this field to the InstallShield download site.

Note

Only users belonging to the AdminStudio Administrator role will be permitted to download mssecure.xml.
